Chava Shelhav, Ph.D. – How Early Childhood Development Impacts Movement Patterns
Chava Shelhav, Ph.D. – How Early Childhood Development Impacts Movement Patterns: In this insightful course, Dr. Chava Shelhav explores the profound connection between early childhood development and the formation of movement patterns. Participants will learn how early experiences, neurological development, and environmental factors influence the way children move and develop motor skills. The course covers key concepts in developmental movement, the impact of early intervention, and techniques to support healthy movement patterns in children. Ideal for educators, therapists, and parents, this program provides valuable knowledge for fostering optimal physical and neurological development from a young age.
This online workshop includes Chava Shelhav, Ph.D. offers a unique opportunity to improve your understanding of early childhood development and your ability to make critical observations. This book will help us understand how our childhood habits can affect us as adults. Chava We will be able to use these tools to improve our Feldenkrais Teacher practice.
Recent research shows that motor skills are developed simultaneously with equilibrioception, spatial orientation, coordination and perception. It also helps to develop a sense of self and self awareness. These skills are crucial for the development of our cognitive and emotional systems. These skills are essential for the development of our cognitive and emotional systems.
Moshe Feldenkrais’ method was based on the motor and psychic growth of an individual. Feldenkrais was founded on his knowledge of the stages and components of development. This knowledge is crucial to be able to interact with a person during a Feldenkrais session. Chava’s teaching utilizes research in neuroscience and emphasizes the influence of early development on the individual and their social self. She will explain how a better understanding and appreciation of developmental stages can lead to a more comprehensive view of ATM and FI lessons.
“During my Ph.D. research working with adults with chronic pain, anxiety, and behavioral issues, I realized that many of these challenges originated during the early stages of development. Studying with Dr. Feldenkrais gave me an understanding of the mechanisms of human movement development and how movement is connected to our senses, awareness, and maturation. Sharing the skills, knowledge, and principles I learned from Dr. Feldenkrais has become my life’s work.”

About Chava
Chava Shelhav, Ph.D., is one of the fourteen first students to be trained by Dr. Feldenkrais. She worked with him for many more years and was his assistant in Amherst. She earned her MA from Boston University and her Ph.D. at Heidelberg University. Chava Through her work with children and infants, she has been distinguished. During the last forty years, as she trained thousands of students and witnessed the growing need for working with healthy and special needs babies, she developed “Child’Space” – a method of developmental coaching that applies Feldenkrais theory to working with babies and their caregivers.
